I’m Back

Posted By Sarah on March 30, 2009

I realise I’ve been absent from my blog for quite a while now. Things just seem to have been incredibly hectic of late.

As readers of this blog will know, I recently moved to a new apartment, had started a contract position and was looking for a permanent job having been made redundant at the end of last year. I also became an auntie recently, which is absolutely fantastic. Baby Robert is just about the most beautiful little boy I think I’ve ever seen!

Consequently, I was concentrating my time and energy on getting the new place straight and applying for permanent work. Once I’d completed my applications, effort was needed to prepare for interviews. Luckily for me, I got the job I really wanted, however, all of this has had a detrimental effect on my writing.

I haven’t written a thing since my last blog post.

No articles have been written for Suite101, Helium or BellaOnline. I’m a little disappointed that I haven’t managed to keep on top of my weekly schedule for BellaOnline, but I hope to get back on track this week. I am aware that this could jeapordise my future with BellaOnline, but life really has been very hectic.

Now that I’ve started my new job and am starting to get more of an idea of what’s needed and what’s expected of me, I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things with my writing, starting with a couple of articles for BellaOnline.

Once I have a number of European Travel articles under my belt, ready for the coming weeks, I’ll concentrate on getting some Helium and Suite101 articles written, too.

I’d like to think that once I start writing again, I might manage to keep on top of it!

Writing to Deadlines

Posted By Sarah on February 20, 2009

With everything that’s been going on recently – moving house, looking for new jobs and starting work again – it’s understandable that my writing schedule has slipped a little.

I haven’t been blogging as much as I had previously and the only other writing I’ve done is for BellaOnline. This got me wondering: what is it about BellaOnline that is motivating me to write? After all, the site itself doesn’t pay and I haven’t set up a shop or any affiliate links on there yet, so the European Travel site isn’t monetized at all at the moment. (more…)

When Life Strikes…

Things seem to have been unnecessarily hectic over the last week.

I got the payout from Today.com, which got me really motivated with regard to my blogging and promoting the blogs themselves, to grow my readership and so increase my payments.

Somehow, though, that didn’t manage to translate itself into any actual writing. I realised today that I hadn’t blogged in over a week, and I’m not sure how I managed to let that happen.

Getting Better

Phew, what an exciting week!

After the great news that my European Travel site has graduated from Training Stage to Launch Stage 1, I was also delighted to receive my first writing-related payment into my PayPal account yesterday.

At the end of January, I hit the $50 minimum required for payment from Today.com and it was paid, as promised, on the 10th of the month.

For anyone who was considering signing up for a paid blog with Today.com, I can personally vouch for the fact that they do pay on time and in full. New sign ups are receiving payment based on the number of page views each blog receives, but blogs are reviewed on a monthly basis and so could move over to the “pay-per-post” scheme.

If you would like to sign up for paid blogging, you can do so by clicking here. There are numerous topics to choose to place your blog in, and I find that there’s quite a bit of help for things like driving traffic to your blogs available in the VIP forums. Of course, if you would like further information, I’d be more than happy to help out as much as I can. Feel free to drop me a line in the comment box or via the contact form.

Happy blogging!

Progress At Last

I’ve finally started to make some progress!

It may not seem like much, but I’ve finally completed my first 10 articles for Suite101.

This was a long time coming – far longer than it should have been, if I’m honest. The commitment to the site, when you sign up, is to complete 10 articles within each three month period, which isn’t even one article each week. I even had to request an extension on the three month period, as I’d allowed myself to get so far behind with it. I have to say, Suite101 were great with this, allowing an extra week to get the final article uploaded to the site.
